Mana Mentors and West Maui Recreational Committee Mission:

 

Mana Mentors is a co-founder of the West Maui Recreational Committee. Over 20 members strong, the Committee is dedicated to uniting sports and youth program leaders in West Maui to collaboratively assess resources, address community needs, and serve as a collective voice for recreation in community planning. The mission is to rebuild and strengthen the community by providing opportunities for connection, growth, and healing for children and families through play and collaboration.​​

Mana Mentors Surf/Skate Mission:

​

• Mentor young people through skateboarding and surfing to achieve physical, academic and mental health goals

• Help youth develop positive character traits such as respect, resilience, honor, humility and creativity

• Provide grants to young surfers and skaters to travel to local, state, national and international competitions 

• Teach eco-consciousness and environmental sustainability: protect, preserve, respect ocean and earth

• Providing equipment, safety gear, clothes, and shoes to youth participants in need

• Create a safe and supportive social community for surfers and skaters though local community building events  

• Providing opportunities for participants to meet and surf/skate with professional athletes 

• Work closely with other non-profits and community organizations to build ohana​​​
